There are few things as smile-inducing in life as a chocolate chip cookie…in any form. The form we are enjoying today is that of cookie dough balls! These moist, yummy, cookie dough balls are the perfect quick energy snack to pop into your mouth in the middle of a busy afternoon. Just don’t be surprised when you find yourself smiling from ear to ear! 

What makes these cookie dough balls a healthy source of energy rather than a fattening treat? The ingredients that we are using, of course! Whole oats, natural peanut butter and high quality protein powder create a trifecta of wholesome, complex carbs, usable protein and satiating, good-for-you fat. Also important is the distinct lack of simple sugars that you’d find in traditional cookies. Enjoy!

Are you working towards a specific weight/number on the scale? Or are you hoping to fit into a certain size dress or jeans? While having this goal is great, it will NOT ensure your success. 

Think about how many people you know who have had a specific number that they wanted to reach. You are probably one of them. This number might have been posted up on a sticky note on the fridge, reminding you to watch what you eat and consistently make it to the gym. Maybe this number was updated and recorded everyday, to enforce accountability. 

How long did that last? A week? Two weeks? Statistics dictate that it likely didn’t last longer than a few weeks until that “goal number” began to fade from your life. Then you took it down off the fridge, or you stared at it defiantly as you reached for the off-limits food. You began to look at your goal number as an adversary rather than something good.

“Unleash the Ultimate Version of You” is the motto of my fitness brand Athletic Edge. And this is exactly what I set out to do when I left Melbourne at the end of August to represent Australia in the 3-week modelling contest Misters of Filipinas. The competition was a male pageant that included both local and international candidates of Filipino ancestry, vying for the chance to win a title that would allow them to compete further at the highest level of international male modelling.  Having won the Australian title, this was my 2nd entry into the competitive modelling world and proved to be a very eye-opening experience indeed. Since after all this is a fitness article, today I want to share with you the challenges I faced with presenting the best version of Jam Acero on the big stage. This is my story.
